A common phrase I hear is that the government “spends money on tax cuts.”
Huh?
That sounds like the government owns all the money in the economy, and letting people keep more of it is the same as the government “spending.”
I disagree.
I firmly believe the government is nothing more than a bunch of employees of the people. I believe the people contribute their own money to a pool that may be used by the government to do things the people want done. I believe that government deserves nothing, owns nothing, amounts to nothing absent the powers granted to it by the people. I believe no person, no government, no bureaucrat, no politician has a preemptive right to the earnings of another person.
I believe the government does not spend money on tax cuts, but I know the people may decide to keep more of their own money and deny government the power to take it.
I believe in freedom. I am an American, not a serf.
