Mark Zuckerberg has been listening to me. I have been telling him that pretty soon every good business plan will contain a section on political action. Now Mark is using his clout to get what he wants out of the government.
You see, in the post-capitalist society ushered in by the Progressives, you don’t market to consumers, you market to politicians! Under Old Capitalism, you had to please people who wanted to buy your products. Under the new economic order, you have to please politicians who can force people to buy your products.
Entrepreneurs like Zuckerberg know this key fact: You have to adapt to use the system as it changes or die. So do the heads of companies like General Electric, Solyndra, Tesla, windmill makers, and every other “alternative energy” company on the planet, not to mention health insurance companies, makers of compact fluorescent lighting, and public school teachers unions (unions in general!). Oh, and what happens if you cross those politicians? Ask the oil companies and the National Rifle Association what heaps of trouble they get from the IRS attack dogs who protect the ruling party’s interests.
You might be too small to have the impact that Mark Zuckerberg has by himself. But you aren’t too small to join a political action group that has your interests at heart.
Welcome to the top-down crony economy. Of course it is completely unfair and undemocratic. But coercion is what a majority of voters want. Adapt or die.
