Killing Freedom

According to Paul Ferrell, freedom is killing our morals and our future. An where does political Progressive publish such insanity? Under the supposed banner of freedom, MarketWatch.com.

Capitalism is fundamentally about freedom: letting people freely make their own decisions about what to buy, whose services to use, where to travel, what to read, whether to work for someone else or start their own company, and on and on. So when Paul Ferrell, writes a column for the MarketWatch entitled “Capitalism is killing our morals, our future,” he’s telling us he hates freedom.

I’ve been pointing this out for some time. Political Progressives really hate letting people make their own decisions. It galls them that the masses will simply not let the political Progressives run every aspect of society. But of course Progressives cannot be so blunt as to tell us what’s really on their mind. So they rename everything and blame everything bad that happens on the people who disagree with them.

I don’t necessarily recommend reading Ferrell’s column. It’s gibberish. But a truthful article could be knocked out of it with a simple search-and-replace: Wherever you see “capitalism,” think “governmentalism.”

By the way, Governmentalism is my word for the religion of believing in government as the source of good. It goes beyond mere “statism” which is the ancient political philosophy that the state should have substantial centralized control over social and economic affairs. Modern statists (like every talking head on MSNBC) have elevated government to a god-like creature.

But enough complaining. We all know we live in a world where freedom is public enemy number one. What do we entrepreneurs do in such a world? I have the answer:

IDEAS

We have to build wealth for society in spite of the contrary force applied by political Progressives. And the surest  way to build wealth is through ideas. Entrepreneurs must devote themselves to dreaming up ideas and acting on them by starting companies to protect and exploit those ideas. Of course we can do that only so long as the politicians allow us to. So, we must also…

Get involved in politics to counter-attack the political Progressives who want to destroy freedom of market choice and subjugate society.

Or…

We must join the political Progressives and force society to buy our products and services while outlawing our competitors’ products and services.

Which path is better for you? Which path is better for society?
