Fascinating article here. The author suggests that we look at how the US government treats the Native Americans to see where the rest of the country is headed. I have to admit it is a powerful argument. The US government behaves towards Native Americans as if the latter are incapable of taking care of themselves and desperately need the power of big government to protect them. The result of course is devastating to Native Americans.
Sound familiar? The whole concept of Progressivism is that the really smart people should tell everyone else how to live. Problem is of course that we are controlled by the dumbest. That’s who Americans elect.
Personally I think I am smart enough to decide whether to have health insurance and what features should be in my policy, what kind of light bulbs to buy, what gas mileage my car should get, how big my soft drink should be, whether to eat salty or fatty foods, what employment contracts I should sign, where to go to school, how to handle my personal investment decisions…and so many more things the government thinks only bureaucrats should be allowed to decide for me.
So how do I get myself chosen to be one of the select few who can make those decisions for everyone else? And how do I get rid of the ones I think are ruining my life? Sure, a free market economy would be nice. That’s the democratic way. But apparently voters prefer those politicians who think they are better than the rest of us.
