Psaki was asked what is Biden doing to increase oil production. Well that’s an irrelevant question. Biden can’t directly increase oil production, he can only hinder it. But one could infer the question was intended to be: What’s Biden doing to remove hindrances to domestic oil production?
The answer was a complete non-sequiter: There are 9000 oil leases, it’s the oil companies’ fault they aren’t producing more oil. Unfortunately logical minds are trying to address Pissaki’s charade, which was designed precisely to be a diversion. Because exactly zero people care how many oil leases there are. We want to consume more oil at lower prices, and we want the government (politicians) to get out of our way.
The real question that must be addressed is this: Does Biden intend to let Americans freely determine how much oil to produce and consume, or does he want to dictate that to us like a petty tyrant?
The answer to that is clear from previous words and deeds, no matter how Pissaki tries to obfuscate it: Democrats don’t believe in the democratic institution of free markets, so shut up and submit to the government workers on this issue.
